All that is made beautiful about this country is in flames, and all the good that once came to perch upon her shoulder flees the raging fire and soot of unwarranted hatred. America has never been perfect. It has always been a chaotic, violent, flawed experiment. But there always has been a clear, possible future ahead of her. America has always been a nation defined by immigrants, fought for by immigrants, and built by immigrants. Millions upon millions have made the voyage by land, air, and sea to become American since the country’s inception. To invent and reinvent a new future for themselves and the next generations. This was the dream of immigrant America. But the flames have not yet reached the scalp of America’s promise. The migrant butterflies unnaturally disturbed by the roaring and violent heat will one day see the smoke clear and find America shedding tears of joy upon their return.
