In this painting, Mother Earth protects the present and future of our children. This painting is in a way an opposite to a digital exhibit, “Testimonios,” I have about children’s rights in detention centers, as that project features a lot of sorrow, pain, and dark colors. As I was in the process of producing that exhibit, I felt I had to express a hopeful image for the children. While there is a lot of pain and mourning I can express for these children, I always will strive to give out a message of a hopeful and brighter future for them.
