PAINTINGS

blanca color

I believe in and share in the world’s necessity for compassion, love, and environmental defense. My work is mainly connected with Mother Nature, and is expressed softly with bright and cheerful colors. We have in human history many different names for the Spirit of our planet, back in Perú we call her Pachamama, always manifesting as female because of her capacity to give and create life. Sadly, many today are indifferent to our connections rooted with Mother Earth. We desecrate our planet with pursuits of greed and irresponsibility, lacking compassion for our living and breathing animal and plant brethren. But I believe that with kindness and consideration, and more importantly awareness, we can overcome the ails of our world.

I do not believe my work is political. I often feel the necessity to express my feelings about the injustice that is currently happening in this world or has happened in history, especially amongst women and children. There is a lot to fight for, and there is a lot of work to do. This is part of the reason why I paint feminine figures prominently, even having a series of historical female figures to better inform myself and others how women have changed the world. At the time of writing, I am working on a series pertaining to the children who are suffering within the border crisis between the U.S. and Latin America, as the issue has affected me deeply as a Latina, and especially as a mother.
